Camp Northern Lights
The mission of YMCA Camp Northern Lights is to nurture our need for belonging and connection, to each other and to the outdoors. Spending time together in nature is one of the best ways for families to grow together. YMCA Camp Northern Lights, a north woods family camp and getaway destination, is the YMCA’s newest family camp in Northern Minnesota. Located on the edge of the Superior National Forest, families experience a beautiful wilderness setting that promotes community, relaxation, and adventure. Camp is situated on Bear Island Lake and offers year-round programs including retreats and cabin reservation opportunities.
Book Your Own Getaway
Whether you need to slow down, relax, or hit the trails, it's all about going at your own pace. From cross-country skiing to a paddle on the lake, seasonal activities surround your cozy cabin. End your day with the healing power of our traditional wood-burning Finnish sauna.

Participate in staff-led activities or slow down and go at your own pace.
Family Camp Weekends
Create long-lasting memories with a fun-filled weekend in the north woods. Enjoy seasonal activities for all ages. Options include hiking, padding, crafts, xc-skiing, saunas, and more!
Adult Retreats
Come by yourself and make new friends, or gather your crew and book together for a memorable trip to the Northwoods.
Volunteer Weekends
Volunteer on facility projects during the day to learn what it takes to maintain and upkeep a camp in the Northwoods, then relax in your cabin by the fire at night.
